Does your team have a solution mindset?

There is one given in your business. You will have problems arise. Sometimes it seems like all you do is deal with problems. This is probably the biggest area of operational noise that your business can have. Yet these problems can become the biggest mentoring opportunity you have as a Business Owner/CEO/COO.

How to you solve problems?

Does your team come to you with all the problems and expect you to solve? Do you go ahead and solve for them? Stop. Every problem that you get should be followed up with a “and what are your suggestions to fix it”. Over time no one will come with a problem without a solution already formulated.

This does not mean the solutions are correct.

It is imperative that you work through the scenarios with your team to make sure that the solution is thoughtful, data driven and  make sure that any adverse results from the decision and worked out. You will be co-creating a solution with your team, and ultimately arming them with the best tool they can have. Solving problems. 

This one skill is one of the most critical in your team, and one of the least thought about when hiring and training. Instill a solutions focussed culture and you will get critical time back in your day, every day.
